Nature of request
The petitioners state that they are burdened with the farm and other charges which were charged when the town was better populated. It is now waste because of statutes that prevent the men of the town taking apprentices whose parents do not have 20s. freehold annually. The town and university are being ruined by this. They request that it be lawful to take such apprentices with the assent of the parents as the citizens of London do.
