Nature of request
It is stated that although it was ordained by statute of the time of Richard II and Henry IV that no gauger of wine, alnager or others should receive their office for life or term of years, many people have obtained them for such terms by the king's letters patent. It is requested that all such grants be held void, and no further grants be made except by warrant of bill sealed by the treasurer sent into Chancery.

The king wishes it.

Dated to 1453 by the heading in Rot. Parl. vol. V, p.227 which makes this from the parliaments of 31-2 Hen. VI.
