Nature of request
1) The duke states that he and other captains and lieutenants in the march of Calais are due a sum for the wages for their troops. He requests that he may be paid the money from the customs of Sandwich after the duke of Buckingham, Somerset's predecessor as captain, has been satisfied for the sum owing to him.2) He requests that they be able to appoint one of the customers at Sandwich.3) That the treasurer of England make sufficient warrants to the chancellor for the making of letters patent for the collector.4) He requests that his customer receive all money received from the customs which is to be delivered to the treasurer of Calais to deliver to the duke and his executors until fully satisfied.5) He requests that his collector on making account at the Exchequer be allowed the sums paid to the treasurer of Calais, and be discharged.6) That the other collectors have allowance for sums taken on wool and other products exported.7) It be lawful for the duke and his executors to sue the treasurer of Calais for any sums not delivered.8) The chancellor of England to be able to make letters patent for the execution of the act.9) Nothing to be done to the prejudice of the duke of Buckingham and others.
