The petitioners ask that the mayor or warden of London may be conservator of statutes made concerning the passage of boats on the Rivers Thames and Medway within the liberty of the city, with powers as justices of the peace have in other counties, amendments to a statute of 17 Richard II to conserve fish stocks not having been applied to London.
Nature of endorsement
The king wishes that the mayor or guardian of London should be conservator of these statutes on the Rivers Thames and Medway as far as the franchise of London extends, with power to execute the statutes like justices of the peace; this ordinance is to last until the next parliament, and is not to extend beyond the Rivers Thames and Medway.
