The petitioners ask for confirmation of letters patent under the seal of the duchy of Lancaster, dated 31 January, 16 Hen. VI (1438), granting them the advowson of the hospital of St Nicholas Pontefract, with licence to appropriate it on the resignation or death of Booth, then master and keeper, in return for which the priory granted the king possessions worth 20 marks within the honour of Pontefract, and also of letters patent under the great seal, dated 13 July, 16 Hen. VI (1438), confirming these grants; they also ask that the possessions they have granted the king remain part of the duchy of Lancaster and annexed to the honour of Pontefract.

Dated in Rot. Parl. V, p.3 to the parliament which met on 12 November 1439. The date of the royal confirmation of the grant of the hospital of St Nicholas, mentioned here, is confirmed as 13 July 1438 in CPR 1436-41, p.190.
