Nature of request
Draft letters of Henry VI acknowledging receipt of a loan of £2918 12s 10d from the named merchants, in the name of the mayor, constable and community of merchants of the Staple, for the defence of the realm, and ordering its repayment from the first sums of money from customs, subsidies of wool, hides and fleeces, tin, tuns of wine and other merchandise, in the ports of Boston and Hull and other adjacent places, except annuities and assignments already granted. Letters patent to this effect are to be made under the great seal.
