Nature of request
Pope states that the king on 7 March 1428 granted to Pope the office of usher of the order of the Garter in the castle of Windsor with a house pertaining to the office in the castle, and also of carrying the staff before the king and his heirs in procession with wages to be taken from the manor of Kempton. However in the patents the grant is made during pleasure, and Pope requests that the commons request that the king grant the office to him for life.

Note
The title in Rot. Parl. Vol. IV, p.414 states this petition to be for 10 Henry VI (1431-2). The petition can be more precisely dated to 1432 as the grant of the office for life was made on 17 July 1432 (CPR 1429-36, p.207).
