Nature of request
Scot states that Henry and Ellis Bradley great malefactors and other unknown malefactors of their affinity have often come at night to Scot's house at Hammerton to kill him, his sons and servants, hiding in unknown place both in Yorkshire and Lancashire so that no sheriff, justice of the peace or other ministers of the king to find and arrest them, so that Scot, his sons and servants are not able to live in the house of go about their business for fear of being killed, and the malefactors still continue their activities. Scot requests that the commons request from the king that he grant a writ of proclamation to the sheriff of York and to the sheriff of Lancashire, to make proclamations at the market of Skipton in Craven, and at the market at Clitheroe respectively that Henry and Ellis appear before the king in his Bench on the same day that the writs are returnable upon a certain penalty to find sufficient surety to keep the peace, and if they do not appear to forfeit the penalty.
