Description
Petitioners
Anne Plomer (Plumber), widow.
Name(s)
Plomer (Plumber), Anne
Addressees
King and the lords spiritual and temporal in parliament.
Nature of request
Plomer states that William Barfot gave certain burgages, lands and tenements in Peterborough to Benedict and Elain Plomer, and that they descended to William Plomer their great-grandson who in turn gave them by deed to Anne Plomer. She stood in peaceable possession for a long time until Tapser and Boys who had made an estate in the burgages, lands and tenements to Wakerley and Billing, with a great multitude of armed men ejected her. She has for a long time tried to recover the property, but is now greatly impoverished and will be disinherited without the assistance of the king and the lords. She requests that the chancellor bring before him the parties and settle the case between them as law, faith and good conscience allow.
Nature of endorsement
Let it be as it is desired.
Places mentioned
Peterborough, [Northamptonshire].
People mentioned
William Barfot (Barford), great-grandfather of the petitioner

William Plomer (Plumber), son of John Plomer, brother of the petitioner

Note
The petition is likely to date to 1431 as it ties in with an enrolled grant of John Billing to Agnes Plomer on 25 October 1431 of lands in the fields of Peterborough, which lands were formerly William Plomer's. It is not quite clear how these lands relate to those taken by Billing, or why he was granting them back (CCR 1429-35, pp.158-9).
