Pope requests that he be granted the office of bailiff of Winchelsea for the term of his life with all fees, wages, revenues and other commodities in the same manner as William Catton in recompense for the manor of Staveley which he had of the grant of Henry V, and which is now in the king's hand by virtue of an inquisition taken wrongfully and without rightful title.

Note
Dated to 1431 by the heading in Rot. Parl. IV, p.367 where it is noted that the petition comes from the parliament held at Westminster on Friday next before the feast of St Hillary, 9 Hen. VI (January 1431). This date is confirmed by the grant of the office made on 12 March 1431 (CPR 1429-36, p.113).
