Nature of request
Le Clerk states that he bought from Robert Brampton wool to the value of 1215 nobles paid to Robert without having livery, but having the bond of Robert and his brother William in the sum for the delivery of the wool. Le Clerk has not received the wool or the money and the day of delivery is long past which is to his undoing. William Brampton has not answered any of the previous attempts to obtain remedy, so that le Clerk requests that the chancellor of England direct a writ of proclamation to the sheriff of the shire to proclaim that Brampton should appear in Chancery on a certain day, and if he doesn't appear to be able to proceed to judgement against William Brampton by his default, and that he may have his goods in execution of the sum, and that similar process be brought against Robert Brampton.

Dated to 1431 by the heading in Rot. Parl. IV, p.367 where it is noted that the petition comes from the parliament held at Westminster on Fiday next before the feast of St Hillary, 9 Hen. VI (January 1431).
