Description
Petitioners
Dean, canons and vicars of the new collegiate church of Our Lady of Leicester.
Addressees
King.
Nature of request
The petitioners state that they were founded by the king's progenitors, and that their possessions and rents granted to them are greatly ruined and knocked down from their value at the foundation so that they are unable to sustain the annual charges upon them without the king's aid. They request that the king consider the premises and grant them the advowson of the church of Towyn, and a licence to appropriate it, and they will use the income to endow an annual obit for Henry V, and distribute the residue amongst the dean, canons and vicars in the same manner as the profits from the church of Llanelli are distributed in their aid.

Note
Dated by the heading in Rot. Parl. IV, p.309 where it is noted that the petition comes from 4 Hen. VI dating this to 1 Sept. 1425-31 Aug. 1426. As this seems to be a parliamentary petition it must therefore come from the Leicester parliament of February 1426.
