King.
Nature of request
John de Orell states that Henry V granted him £20 sterling for term of his life, to be received annually from the fee farm of the city of Chester, as the Duke of Exeter, who was present at the time, will attest. As this grant was not put into execution during Henry's lifetime, he asks the king, with the assent of the lords in this parliament, to grant him this sum, and to let him have letters of the privy seal addressed to the Chamberlain of Chester, for him to issue letters patent to John, under the seal of the county of Cheshire, for this sum.
Nature of endorsement
Considering the grant made by the father of our sovereign lord to the above-mentioned supplicant, as has been attested in this parliament, held on the Monday before the feast of St Martin, in the first year of our sovereign lord's reign, and because the said grant was not fully executed in the said father's lifetime, the king wills and grants, that the said supplicant is to have the said £20 annually, for term of his life, and that he is also to have letters of the king's privy seal, addressed to his Chamberlain of Chester, commanding him to issue to the supplicant the king's letters patent in due form, according to the will of the said father and the effect of this petition.
