Nature of request
The petition complains about the evils brought about by unqualified physicians, and asks that in future no man should practise in physic without being either a bachelor or doctor of physic from some university, and that he should have letters attesting to this qualification, that no woman should practise in physic, and that the sheriffs should inquire into this matter in their tourns. It also asks that a warrant should be sent to the sheriffs that those who have hitherto practised without qualifications should by a certain day have presented themselves at a university to be examined in the subject.
