Nature of request
Lucy, widow of Edmund, Earl of Kent, complains that she is being harassed and impleaded by her late husband's creditors, because of a false allegation (which they made in the last parliament at Westminster, and are also pursuing at common law) that since his death she had received £12,000, which the Duke of Milan had granted to her husband as her dower. She asks the commons to ask the king to ordain, by authority of parliament, that she might be quit and discharged of her husband's debts, and of all suits and actions arising from them, and that she might be able to bar all such suits.
