Nature of request
Richard Skyres and John Bury complain that on 14 March, in the first year of the king's reign, they were captured in Brittany, during the truce between England and Brittany, by Henry Castell, imprisoned, ransomed, and robbed of their merchandise. Certain ambassadors were sent to Brittany because of this, and it was agreed with the Duke and his council that they should be repaid their ransom, their costs and the value of the goods stolen from them; but they have received only some of this money. They ask the commons to ask the king in this parliament to grant them letters of mark, to recover the remainder.

Soit prie a Roy (A request is to be made to the King) (on front).This petition is to be delivered to the king's council, and the lords of the same council are to ordain for the complainant, by authority of this parliament, what seems to them to be most reasonable on this matter.

Dated on the guard to 1416. Assigned in Rot. Parl. Vol. IV, p.89a (no. 6) to 3 Henry V (21 March 1415- 20 March 1416). It was submitted to parliament and the parliaments in that year were in November 1415 and March 1416.
