Nature of request
The soldiers in the castles in the March of Picardy complain that they have to leave their post, weakening the defences in Picardy, and spend large sums of money in coming to England to sue for their wages, and ask the lords and commons to ask the king, in the present parliament, to ordain that they might be paid their wages in the Exchequer at Calais, according to the tenor of their indentures, as was done in the past; and that sufficient assignments for payments might be made to the Treasurer of Calais, to provide for this.
