Nature of request
The petitioners complain that although the Duke and community of Milan issued bonds for 70000 florins to Edmund, Earl of Kent, when he married Lucy Visconti, that sum has not been paid, to the peril of the Earl of Kent's soul and the great hardship of his creditors. They request that letters of mark and reprisal be granted to the Archbishop of Canterbury, or to the Guardian of the spiritualities of the see when it is vacant, to recover this sum, plus £5000 in damages and costs.

Rot. Parl. vol. IV, p.29a-b (no.5), assigns this petition to 1414, and it is dated in a note on the guard to 1413-1414 with reference to Henry, Lord Scrope of Masham, who was executed in August 1415, and to the king's father.
