Description
Petitioners
William Doyle; Isabel Doyle, wife of William Doyle.
Name(s)
Doyle; Doyle, William; Isabel
Addressees
King and lords and commons of parliament.
Nature of request
William Doyle and Isabel, his wife, state that they have been ejected from the manor of Hinton in the Hedges by a Thomas Hynton, by maintenance of John, Lord Lovell, and that by the same maintenance they have been defeated in the assize of novel disseisin which they sued on this in the fourth year of the king's reign, in the name of the manors of Overbury and Netherbury. They request that certain lords, knights or other people of value be appointed, together with some of the king's judges, to hear the evidence on both sides, and that they might have sufficient power to put an end to this business by authority of parliament. They also ask the king to hear the matter and make a final agreement between the parties personally, considering that the assize went against them and their long delay and labour at this and other parliaments.
Nature of endorsement
These two petitions are answered as appears of record on the roll of parliament

Note
Dated on the guard to? 1407, with reference to Rot. Parl. III, p.573b, and to between 1403 and 1410, with reference to Rot. Parl. vol. III, pp.633b-634b, which is from the parliament of January 1410 (11 Henry IV), and which mentions promises made to the petitioners on this matter at various parliaments. It is not clear to see why 1403 is chosen as the terminus a quo for this petition. The note thinks that this is probably from an earlier rather than later stage in the proceedings, although the petitioners here do mention their great delay and long labour at several parliaments. As the endorsement mentions being answered on the roll of parliament, it seems quite likely that it gave rise to the agreement noted in Rot. Parl. vol. III, p.573b. An order summoning one of the arbiters to make judgment is in CCR 1405-9, pp.188-9, dated 30 January 1407.
