Nature of request
John Oxenford, John Cressyngham, Thomas Halle, William Wegynhale, Robert Smyth, Thomas Capmaker and William Cole state that when a dispute arose between the great people of Bishop's Lynn and the petitioners and other poor commons of the same town, and the petitioners sued to the king's council for remedy, at the suit of the great people a commission was granted to inquire generally into various wrongs committed in the town, and the petitioners were thrown into prison. They ask that they might be released on sufficient mainprise, to answer to anyone who wishes to complain, and to do as the law of the land ordains, so that they can give information to the officers, ministers and others who sue on the king's behalf to right these wrongs.

Dated on the guard to 1406, with reference to CPR 1405-8 p.248, which is dated at Westminster, 14 October 1406. The petition was presumably presented to the parliament of March 1406.
