Nature of request
The prior and convent of the cathedral church of Our Lady of Coventry complain that people have been inserting pipes, without their permission, to draw water from the underground water-conduit that brings water to their priory, and also throwing foul rubbish into a stream called the Shirburn, which leads to their mills, and ask the king and lords in parliament to ordain that henceforth no-one is to insert a pipe into their water-conduit, or to break or cut into it, without their permission, or to hinder them from examining and repairing it, on pain of imprisonment, and payment of £10 to the king, and three-fold damages to them; and that no-one should throw filth into the stream; and that the Chancellor should let the supplicants have as many commissions, letters patent and writs as they need on this matter.

The king, of his special grace, with the advice and assent of the lords spiritual and temporal in parliament, has granted this petition, according to its contents.
