Nature of request
George de Dunbarre, Earl of March of Scotland, who has lost his castles, lordships, goods and chattels in Scotland because he is the liege of the King of England, asks that it might be ordained in the present parliament that if the king, or any of his lords, should make any conquest in Scotland, he might be restored to any of his castles, lordships, goods and chattels thus conquered. He also asks the king to take into his special protection all the people living in the earl's lands and lordships of his earldom, who wish to be loyal to him and to the earl.
Nature of endorsement
The king wills that if he or any other person, his soldier, should make any conquest in the realm of Scotland, of the castles or lordships which belonged to George de Dunbarre, Earl of March of Scotland, in part or whole, which are of his inheritance, and which were forfeited to the king of Scotland because he became our lord the king's liege man, the earl is to have and enjoy them, held of our lord the king as of his crown. As for the special protection mentioned in the petition, the king wills it, provided that the people living in the earl's lands and lordships, of the earldom of March of Scotland, do liege homage to our lord the king, and are good and loyal lieges to him afterwards.
