Nature of request
Copy of letters patent allowing the abbot and convent of St Peter, Westminster, to acquire, appropriate and hold to their own use lands, tenements and rents to the value of £100 annually, to celebrate divine service daily for the soul of Henry V, celebrate his anniversary, and perform other works of piety, according to the provision and disposition of Henry, Archbishop of Canterbury, Henry, Bishop of Winchester, Thomas, Bishop of Durham, Walter Hungreford and John Leventhorp, enfeoffed with certain lands of the Duchy of Lancaster by the late king for this purpose, notwithstanding the statute against putting lands into mortmain, or any other statute or ordinance.

Rot. Parl. vol.IV, pp.414b-415a assigns the petition attached to this document (SC 8/22/1063) to 10 Henry VI (1 September 1431-31 August 1432); it is clear from the petition that it was presented in parliament, and the parliament in that year was in May 1432, so it has been tentatively assigned to that year.
