Nature of request
John Dautry and Alice his wife state that Alice ought to have the manor of Sudborough in Northamptonshire, formerly held by Robert de Veer, of the inheritance of Randolph Boys her father, kinsman and heir of Robert de Veer; but that Randolph was killed while suing for it by Thomas Grene and John his son, who now hold the manor, and who falsely indicted John and Alice when they entered and claimed it. They ask that Thomas Grene be summoned before the king and parliament, to answer for the injury and conspiracy against the supplicants, as he is so greatly maintained by the great lords of the county that they can have no recovery at common law.

CCR 1392-6 p.260 is dated at Westminster, 7 March 1394: this petition must date from around the same time, possibly from the parliament of January 1394. The petition is assigned by Rot. Parl. vol. III pp.326b-327a (no. 10) to 17 Richard II (22 June 1393 - 21 June 1394).
