- The Abbot and convent of Holmcultram state that, to avoid being burnt down by the Earl of Douglas and other Scots, they agreed to a ransom of £200 in English coin, but do not dare to pay this without the king's permission: they ask that they may have such permission, notwithstanding any common law, ordinance or statute to the contrary.
