Nature of request
The Prior of St Frideswide, Oxford, states that although he has a fair at Oxford at the feast of St Frideswide, by the charters of the king's progenitors, and by his confirmation with clause licet, when people had assembled for the fair, the Chancellor and scholars of Oxford University made a solemn cry that no fair was to be held and that everyone was to leave, and destroyed the tents and pavilions of any who remained, and still greatly harass and oppress the house, to its final and perpetual destruction. They request a remedy.
