Nature of request
The commons of the clergy state that they hold various temporalities annexed and appropriated to their cathedrals and collegiate churches, for which they are assessed for tenths, whenever these are granted to the king, and that their tenants are discharged from payment of fifteenths on this account. However, the assessors and collectors of fifteenths are now wrongfully distraining them for payment. They request that the king ordain that they be discharged from such payment of fifteenths, as they have never previously been taxed with the laity.

Rot. Parl. vol. III, pp. 175b-176a assigns this petition to 7 Richard II (22 June 1383- 21 June 1384), but a note on the guard of SC 8/20/976 says '? 1385'.
