John Plays, kinsman and heir of Aveline, who was the wife of Edmund, brother of King Edward I, states that Aveline was seised in her demesne as in fee of the manors of Langley and Wraysbury, which are held of the king in chief by knight service, and died seised of them without an heir of her body, at which time they were seized into King Edward's hands, as the heir, Ralph son of Richard de Plays, was under age.
