Alice Fesant, heir of Benedict Shordiche, states that through his death she has inherited a share of a messuage, in fact half, with adjacent lands, in Hackney, in the lordship of the Hospital of St John, but that one John Goding, who has no right in it, has occupied it, by favour and aid of the neighbours, and refuses to deliver it to Alice, although he has often been asked to, but has withheld it from her for twenty-four years and more, and because she is poor and he rich, she cannot have recovery against him. She requests that the king call John Goding before him, and ordain that Alice have her right, and that the steward of the court of the Prior of St John be asked to search the old rolls concerning this division of land, and show the best evidence they have on this, in salvation of Alice's right.
