Description

Nature of request
William Skele states that he purchased from John Syngwell and Alice his wife, formerly the wife of William Morant, certain lands and tenements in the town of Sevenoaks, which Alice held in fee of the gift and feoffment of Richard Brewer, Thomas Edward and Andrew Crawhurst of Sevenoaks, who had them of the gift and feoffment of William Morant. When the petitioner had held these lands and tenements for a year, one James de Pekham expelled him from them with force and arms, against law and reason, and has kept him out ever since. He has sued at common law for about three years, ruining himself, but James is so strong and so feared in the country that he has never been able to have justice. He requests a remedy, that he might not be undone forever, or that the parties be called and ordered to show their evidence, and judgment given as reason demands.
