Description
Petitioners
Michael de la Pole.
Name(s)
Pole, Michael
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Michael de la Pole states that Edward III had granted his father, William, and his heirs, 400 marks per year from the ancient customs of the port of Kingston upon Hull as compensation for releasing the manors of Burstwick, Gringley on the Hill and Wheatley, and 260 marks of the said ancient customs previously granted to him, as plainly appears in the charter made to him. Michael sought this inheritance, but was told that he would need to secure a fresh grant from the new king. He therefore asks that the king should issue the necessary letters patent to the collectors in Hull, ordering them to pay the sums promptly according to the terms of the charter, and to the Treasurer and Barons to allow the sums to the collectors, so that his inheritance should not be further disturbed.
Nature of endorsement
It is granted in parliament that he is to have sufficient writs or commands for this, and such as he demands.
