- John, Lord Neville states that he was appointed by the King, the present king's grandfather, to guard the castle of Brest in Brittany for a certain time, after which time the Duke of Brittany arranged with him to guard it for a certain time, but he did not return with men-at-arms and archers when he said he would. Therefore Lord Neville took hostages from the French, for whom he paid 4500 marks and more, in the duke's default. He requests a remedy.
