The abbot and convent of Cockersand request confirmation of their charters with the clause 'licet', without paying a fine, as they are poor and at continual risk of being destroyed by the sea.

CChR 1341-1417 pp.298-9 is dated at Westminster, 8 April 1385. However, this petition is in Rot. Parl. vol. III, p.52b (no. 8) among petitions from 1378. A note on the guard says '?1385, cf. Charter R. p.298, but may be earlier', so the petition has been dated between these two dates.
