Nature of request
William de Wellop, clerk, states that he presented a petition to the last parliament at York because he was expelled from the hospital of St Nicholas, York, at the suit of Nicholas de Hugate, without being called into court or to judgment, although he had that hospital of the gift of King Edward, father of the present king; and that it was adjudged in parliament that he was to have a writ to Henry Lescrop and his companions, justices of the king, to summon Nicholas; but, while this plea was pending, a Robert de Grymeston has entered the hospital, presented by the king: for which William requests a remedy.

He is to have a writ against the incumbent similar to those he had against previous incumbents, if he thinks it will help him.

CPR 1301-7 p.408 is dated Caversham, 22 November 1305; CPR 1317-21 p.269 is dated at York, 6 February 1319. The parliament at York is likely to be the May 1319 one - although by that stage Robert de Grymeston had already been presented.
