Clergy of the bishopric of Carlisle and the archdeaconry of Richmondshire.

Nature of request
The clergy of the bishopric of Carlisle and the archdeaconry of Richmondshire state that they are greatly impoverished by attacks by the Scots, because of which the king has recently had their benefices re-assessed for the purposes of taxation. They request that they might pay the tenth from the English clergy recently granted to the king by the pope at this last assessment, because of their great poverty. They also request a writ on this, as has been granted to the clergy of the bishopric of Durham.

It is to be done this time of the king's grace, saving the king's right in future.
