Description
Petitioners
William de Plumton (Plompton), the son of Robert de Plompton.
Name(s)
de Plumton; Plompton, William
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
William, son of Robert de Plumton states that the wood of Fulwith, whose boundaries he describes, belongs to his manor of Plompton in Yorkshire, as his right and inheritance, together with all manner of profits arising from the wood, except for game rights to stags, hinds and roe-bucks, but that Edmund Earl of Cornwall and lord of the honour of Knaresborough wrongly prevented his father from exercising those rights, except those of housebote and haybote, and the bailiffs of the honour of Knaresborough still continue to do this. He requests that his right be investigated, so that law and justice can be done for him.
Nature of endorsement
Certain people are to be appointed in Chancery to inquire into which of William's ancestors received these profits by reason of the wood mentioned in the petition, and by whom he was removed and how and when, and into all other necessary attendant circumstances; and the inquisition is to be returned in Chancery.
