Nature of request
Letter from Edward III to Walter de Kelby, escheator of Lincolnshire, informing him that, as the inquisition of 1327 shows that Gervase Avenel and Joan his wife were not adherents of the Scots when Thomas, Abbot of Thornton, recovered his tenements in Carlton against them, then if the manor of Carlton is in the king's hand for that reason alone, he is to return it to the present abbot.
