The Prioress and Convent of Aconbury state that although they have no spirituality or lay fee attached to a spirituality, and have always been taxed with the laity rather than the clergy, the Dean and Chapter of Hereford, collectors of the tenth granted by the clergy in the eighth year of the king's reign, are demanding money from them, although an inquisition has found that they do not owe this. Furthermore, the Bishop of Lincoln and Bishop of London, collectors of the annual, biennial and triennial tenths granted by the clergy are also demanding money from them, and have sent a writ to the Sheriff of Herefordshire to collect the lot: with the result that they are grievously distrained.
