Nature of request
John Punge of Wormley and Catherine his wife state that they were wrongly disseised of their free tenement in Cheshunt by Aymer de Valence, Earl of Pembroke, seventeen years ago, and still are by the Countess, and that no assize can be held because of the threats made by Hugh le Despenser to the justices and the people of the country; with the result that they and their seven children are reduced to beggary. They request grace and a remedy.
