Nature of request
Thomas de Bysschopeston states that an informer called Roger Lumbard maliciously gave Hugh le Despenser, the son, to understand that Thomas was an enemy of the king and an adherent of the Bishop of Hereford, smuggling his people and his letters out of the country, and receiving aliens and other enemies of the king's. Hugh gave a commission to Simon le Croyser to attach Thomas, with the result that Thomas and his friends had to pay £100 to clear his name with Hugh - and all at the false procurement of this informer, for which he requests a remedy.
