Nature of request
The prior and Convent of Brinkburn state that King Edward, the present king's father, granted permission to William de Felton by his charter to give them 16 s. worth of rent, with appurtenances, in Newcastle upon Tyne, in exchange for 2 messuages and 33 acres of land, with appurtenances, in Thirston, and because in the Eyre of Hugh de Cressingham, held at Newcastle in the twenty-first year of King Edward's reign, it was presented that they had acquired this rent without permission, it is being demanded from them for the time which has passed. They request that the king consider their charter, a copy of which is attached to the petition, and the exchanges, from which they have not been able to profit, and their great poverty, and that he confirm the rent to them, and pardon them the demand for the past.

PROME, Appendix of Unedited Petitions, 1307-1337, Rotuli Parliamentorum I, pp. 387-415, no. 141 dates this petition to '? 1325' on the basis of CIM 1307-49, no. 804. This group of petitions in Rot. Parl. I pp. 387-415 can otherwise mostly be dated to 1321 and 1322.
