Nature of request
John de Grymsted makes two related requests:1) Because of his hatred of him, Hugh le Despenser, formerly Justice of the Forest on this side of the Trent, through William de Cleydon, his lieutenant, amerced him in 14 li. for timber and firewood which he had cut down for his own use in his own wood of Grimstead; which sum is still demanded of him. He requests a remedy.2) Phillip atte Bech, sheriff of Wiltshire, took fifty animals from him under title of distraint because of the above amercement; Walter de Norwicz has ordered him to cease making this distraint and to return the animals, but he withholds 6 cows. He requests a remedy.
Nature of endorsement
The council is advised that, because parliament is now adjourned etc., he should have a supersedeas until the next parliament, on security etc., and also a writ to William de Cleydon to provide information on the reason for the amercement etc.
