Nature of request
Hugh Daudeleye states that the king's father assigned to him and his wife the castle of Lydford and the moor of Dartmoor, in Devon, as well as other lands and tenements in various counties, which he held until he was expelled because of the rebellion of Thomas, Earl of Lancaster; but he was afterwards reseised, and held until the castle and moor were given to Richard Kaleware, who had told the king that they were his to give. He has now held them for a year and a half: Hugh requests a remedy for this, as law and justice allows.
Nature of endorsement
The division is to be examined in Chancery, and the reason why the moor and castle were taken into the king's father's hand; and how he was seised afterwards is to be shown; and when these things have been examined and established, the king is to be informed, and he will speak his will on the matter.
