Nature of request
Richard de Wikes states that he had purchased various tenements in Windlesham from Thomas de la Knolle, but that Thomas ejected him from them, and enfeoffed Eleanor, his mother, for the term of her life; she then enfeoffed William de Keynes and Alice his wife. Richard brought an assize of novel disseisin, and recovered the tenements. However, Hugh le Despenser, Earl of Winchester, Thomas de la Knolle and others then ejected him, because he refused to relinquish his right to Hugh. Hugh then held the tenements until his forfeiture, and they are now in the king's seisin. Richard requests a remedy.
Nature of endorsement
The muniments which belonged to Hugh are to be searched to see if anything can be found on behalf of the king which might bar etc., and if nothing is found, the king will provide a remedy.
