Nature of request
Richard, son of John Chaumberleyn, and Margaret his wife, states that a fine was levied in the king's court at Westminster, at the octave of Michaelmas, in the eighteenth year of his reign, between Master Robert de Baldok, complainant, and John Chaumberleyn, Richard's father, deforciant, concerning the manor of Stanbridge, with the result that John granted the manor to Robert for term of life, and that after his death it would remain to Richard, John's son and Margaret his wife, and to the heirs of their two bodies. The manor has now come into the king's hand, because it was found in Robert's hand. They request that they might have the manor, according to the form of the fine.

CCR 1327-30 p.157 is dated at York, 15 August 1327. This petition must date from after the imprisonment of Baldock on 16 November 1326, but before then.
