Nature of request
The bishops, abbots and priors who claim as franchises in the king's Exchequer amercements of their tenants, chattels of felons and fugitives, and other forfeitures which belong to them through the gifts of kings, which have previously been allowed to them, request that these might continue to be allowed to them, with no regard to any ordinance made by the Bishop of Exeter, lately Treasurer of the Exchequer, and his allies, who wish to destroy all the franchises of the land.
