Nature of request
John de Oldebury of Leigh states that his father, Robert de Oldbury, in the time of King Edward borrowed 40 s. from Bonefay and Bonefaz de Creckelade, Jews, which, because he did not pay it on the appointed day, attracted 40 li. 16 s. 1 d. halfpenny of interest, and because Bonefay and Bonefaz were exiled with the other Jews, the entire sum, including the interest, was owed to the king, and is still owed by John. He has paid 9 li. 3 s. 4 d. in the Exchequer, and as he is ruined by this debt, he requests that he may be discharged of the rest. He also states that the king has previously pardoned the debt, but that, for lack of a good suit, it is still demanded in the Pipe.

A note on the guard says '? 1320-7. Apparently temp. Ed. II from allusion to temp. K. Edw. and Jews: the handwriting looks late Ed. II or later.' This has been followed here.
