- Robert de Haselschawe states that the father of the present king granted him the custody of the Exchanges at London and Canterbury, on the same terms as his predecessors, but that the Barons of the Exchequer would not allow him his wages, or those of his other ministers, because he did not answer for the issues of the Exchanges as completely as others had done, which he could not do, because, on account of war and other reasons, foreign merchants and others did not come to the Exchanges in his time, as he often explained in parliament. He had often asked the king's father to release him from his commission, but was asked to stay on until he had minted black coins and white halfpennies of the Tower, for the Duchy of Guyenne: from which he has accounted for a profit of £700 sterling. He therefore requests a writ to the Barons, to allow him his wages for himself and his ministers.
