Nature of request
The religious in Norfolk who are not summonable to parliament state that when the king recently granted in parliament a ninth on sheaves, lambs and fleeces, he ordained that religious who are not summonable to parliament would be exempt, for lands and tenements for which they pay tithes with the clergy. But this ninth is being demanded from the petitioners, for lands on which they pay a tithe, by John de Houton and Edmund de Grymesby, appointed by the king to inquire into various matters concerning the ninth. They request a writ to John and Edmund to cease demanding this ninth.
Nature of endorsement
Everyone who is in this case is to have a writ of Chancery, so that it is not denied him.
