1) Faucomberrge, late sheriff of York states that he was ordered by the king and others to make provision of bread and ale for the men-at-arms whilst they reside in the county, namely 6,000 loaves and 6,000 gallons of ale a day. When they departed they returned to Faucomberrge three days worth of provisions which he was unable to profit from but to give it to the poor. He requests allowance.2) Also he requests allowance for £30 for the wages of 40 men-at-arms for 15 days to make levies from the commonalty of Yorkshire and bring them to the king at Stanhope.3) Also he requests allowance of 68s. for the wages of 6 men-at-arms for 12 days going to Stanhope and returning to York to give news of the status of the king and his host to the queen by his order.4) Also he requests allowance for £3 7s. 6d. for the wages of 18 men for 15 days residing in the castle of York to guard it by order of the king and queen whilst the king is at Stanhope and in northern parts.The costs are not allowed to him upon his account and he requests remedy.1)
Nature of endorsement
Concerning the first point let it be assigned to Adam de Hoperton and Thomas Deyvill to enquire how much of the provisions were returned, and of how much he profited, and how much he lost and other circumstances.2) Concerning the other points he should show what warrants and orders he has, and if he doesn't have them, he should sue before the king that he order his will.

Note
The petition must date to around 1331, for Faucumberge is clearly no longer sheriff (List of Sheriffs, p.161). The petition makes reference to the ignominious Stanhope campaign of 1327.
